With the stock of used cars getting bigger by the day, it can be difficult figuring out which one to buy. In order to find one that you can be reasonable sure will give you many years of reliability, a quality check is essential. This includes looking at several key areas.

Exterior

When evaluating the exterior of a vehicle, you’ll want to take a good look at the body, lights, and glass. See if there is any paint chipping, rust, or cracks. If you can, get under the car to spot any trouble areas. Take a close look at the tires to gauge their condition.

Interior

Once inside, you’ll want to check out the carpets and upholstery to see if there are any rips, tears, or stains. Also, make sure the seats work as they should and that they are comfortable and supportive.

Under the Hood

You don’t want to buy a car without checking under the hood. Have the car started while the hood is open so you can really hear the engine and potentially some unusual sounds.

Road Test

The next step is to take the car out for a test drive. Pay close attention to see how the vehicle handles, takes turns, and accelerates. Use the stereo and infotainment system to get an idea of how they will work when you’re driving.

History Report

If everything so far seems great, you should still review the vehicle’s history report. This could show you some possible red flags, including the accidents the car has been involved in.
