One of the reasons why Mazda owners love their vehicles is because of how dependable they are. But this doesn’t mean that things don’t occasionally go wrong. Here, our Mazda service center goes over some common reasons why you may have trouble getting your car started.
The Battery Has Died
If you hear a clicking sound when you turn the key, this is telling you that the battery doesn’t have enough juice to get the car started. If you hear nothing at all, this means that the battery is completely dead.
This could be because you accidentally left your lights on or some other component from the electrical system that drained the battery. It may also just be that the battery is old and worn out. You can order a new battery from our parts center.
Bad Starter or Ignition Switch
While the battery plays a vital role in getting your car started, both the starter and ignition switch are also instrumental. If either of these things has gone bad or just isn’t working properly, you won’t be able to turn on the car.
If you hear a grinding sound when turning the key, this is a sign that something is wrong with the starter. If the car starts but immediately stalls out, the culprit is probably the ignition switch.
You’re Out of Gas
Heard of Occam’s razor? In many instances, sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one. It can be all too easy to ignore that little gas pump icon telling you that you need to fill up. While annoying, at least this doesn’t involve a repair or replacement.
