Power and Performance

The new CX-5 offers two engine options to make the grade. One's a spirited 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G four-cylinder, coming standard in Sport and ready to hit the road backed by 186 pound-feet of torque. The other's an up-to-250-horsepower SKYACTIV-G 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine, the mainstay of Grand Touring Reserve and later, capable of dishing out a high-performance 310 pound-feet. Paired with a SKYACTIV®-Drive six-speed auto transmission, you can look forward to excellent fuel economy up to an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

The crossover's a capable traveler, too, with predictive i-ACTIV AWD® available, otherwise standard in Grand Touring Reserve trims, as well as SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control Plus for cornering precision. It can even tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped -- enough capacity for a light towable tent camper, dirt bike, or other ATV.

Safety

The SUV's a prime example of the Mazda commitment to your driving security to boot. Dynamic stability control and traction control systems help keep it on even footing, while a host of active safety features provide improved situational awareness and help you avoid accidents. Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Smart City Brake Support, for instance, comes standard in Sport. Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Advanced Smart City Brake Support with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning with Lane-keep Assist, and High Beam Control, on the other hand, come standard in Touring. You'll find an Adaptive Front-lighting System in Grand Touring, available LED fog lights, and full LED lighting as well as front and rear parking sensors in Signature. These aren't to mention the parking ease afforded by a rear-view camera.

When you step up to trims like CX-5 Grand Touring, Sport, and Grand Select, and you can avail yourself of the situational awareness on the road and off the beaten path provided by Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring adds Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality for safe distancing, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist to help you stay on course with feedback, and High Beam Control for cutting through the thick of visibility issues with other motorists in mind. Find everything you need in this fully-loaded, full-size SUV.

Interior and Technology

The ride comes together in an exceptionally accommodating cabin. Approach a model sporting optional Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, step in, and tap push-button start, and under an available power sliding glass moonroof, the cabin comes to life.

Cloth-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob appear standard in Sport trims, with heated leatherette front seats and Lux Suede inserts with a step up to Touring. Heated and leather-trimmed front seats are a standard of Grand Touring, and they're upgraded in Grand Touring Reserve, ventilated in front and heated in the rear. At the top of the line, in Signature trims, you'll find sumptuous Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats. Adjust the available dual-zone automatic climate control, which has a pollen filter for freshness, and you'll find it's easy to get the cabin just the way you like it.

Front and center is a standard MAZDA CONNECT&#trade; Infotainment System complete with voice command and a multifunction Commander control to put entertainment management within reach. An HD Radio and Aha, Pandora, and Stitcher internet radio provide listening options galore, especially loud and clear via an available 10-speaker Bose audio with Centerpoint 2 and AudioPilot 2 technology, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard in Touring and later to accommodate smartphones. There's even a Mazda Navigation System option as well as SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link update support to get you from point A to point B. Just load up a weekend getaway worth of gear and hit the road -- CX-5 makes available up to 59.6 cubic feet for cargo with one-touch fold-down rear seating collapsed, and it's accessible easily via the rear power liftgate standard in Grand Touring and late trims.
