2019 Mazda3 vs. 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Ready to cross-reference compact cars and ultimately make a purchase or lease determination here at Patrick Mazda? Our team looks forward to outlining what we believe makes a showroom favorite in the all-wheel drive 2019 Mazda3 preferable to a luxury-level option in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class on your behalf.

  • Value - Across respective price points, trim levels and packages, the new Mazda3 presents greater value when directly contrasted with opposing Mercedes-Benz compact competition
  • Comfort - While both models slot into smaller positions within their sedan segments, the new Mazda3 showcases its commitment to advanced relaxation for both you and your guests inside. This new Mazda model features greater front shoulder room and rear head space over what the Mercedes-Benz A-Class offers
  • Control - From available i-Activ AWD® to G-Vectoring Control Plus enhanced dynamics, the new Mazda3 is equipped for sharp handling and sporty command from behind the wheel. Standard limited-slip differential, not available for the base Mercedes-Benz model, emphasizes the advantages in this important category
  • Technology - Advanced infotainment inside the 2019 Mazda3, when also assessing digital settings of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, prove preferable as you account for the tremendous value of your purchase or lease. Features include an all-new 8.8-inch Mazda Connect™ infotainment system and available 12-speaker Bose® sound system. For intelligent design that allows you to project key diagnostics and details onto your windshield, an active driving display is also available
  • Safety - Driver-assist features are a key part of the new Mazda3 travel experience through the i-Activsense® safety suite. Features just optional for the base Mercedes-Benz model that come standard in this new compact Mazda sedan and hatchback include a high-beam control system, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert, and a lane-departure warning system

2019 Mazda3 vs. 2019 BMW 3 Series

  • Value - the top Premium Package for the 2019 Mazda3 starts around $13,000 less than the base BMW 330i. With the Mazda3 you'll get style, features, and performance, and you'll have money leftover for going places with your stunning sedan or hatchback
  •
  • Comfort - comfort is king in the premium models segment, and on the Mazda3 Premium Package you'll have beautiful leather-trimmed sport seats and 8-way power seating with 2 settings for memory. The BMW 330i's seats do have more flexibility with their 14-way settings, but it's pretty disappointing that such a pricey luxury model would only offer SensaTec seating that merely mimics the look & feel of leather!
  •
  • Control - BMW is known for its performance, but the Mazda3 hangs in with the German luxury model. The Mazda3 has standard G-Vectoring Control Plus for easily going around corners and holding on tight in the process. You'll also get a standard limited slip differential to help create a surprisingly pleasing ride for a vehicle at that price point. If you want a limited slip differential on a BMW 3 Series you're going to need to go to the M Series sport-tuned version, and that costs double what the Mazda3 does!
  •
  • Technology - both the Mazda3 and the BMW 330i have an 8.8-inch touchscreen and premium audio systems from different companies. What we love about the top Mazda3 trim is that it comes standard with an Active Driving Display that shows useful information on the windshield! You won't get that on the BMW 330i.
  •
  • Safety - luxury models always talk about their cutting-edge advanced safety features, but apparently you only get them on the higher trims! Even though the Mazda3 Premium Package is way more affordable than the BMW 330i, you'll still get the following: lane-keep assist, smart brake support, blind spot monitoring paired with rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention alert, high beam control, adaptive lighting (also on the BMW 330i) and radar cruise control with stop/go.

2019 Mazda3 vs. 2019 Audi A3

  • Value - the Mazda3 Premium Package is packed with amenities and premium appointments, and it still costs nearly $10K less than the base trim Audi A3 Premium! You also won't spend nearly as much on maintenance or repairs for a Mazda3 as you will with a wallet-hungry Audi A3.
  •
  • Comfort - on the Mazda3 Premium Package you'll enjoy the 8-way power-adjusting sport seats that are trimmed with leather. The Audi A3 base trim also has leather, but you won't get power seating until you go to the next trim up. The Mazda3 also comes in hatchback styling, so if you want room for ample gear and people, everyone will be more comfortable in our pick than in the Audi A3.
  •
  • Control - you might be surprised to learn that the Mazda3 and its 2.5L engine has 186 horsepower, and that's more than the Audi base engine's 2.0L with its 184-horsepower output! To give the Mazda3 added refinement in the performance department, there's standard G-Vectoring Torque Control and a limited slip differential. As you might have guessed, you won't find those on the Audi A3.
  •
  • Technology - Audi is known for its technology, but the Mazda3 Premium Package takes the prize with the Active Driving Display that shows pertinent information on the windshield and right in your line of sight. It's stylish, futuristic, and tech-savvy. We also think the Mazda3 has a more unique way to display its touchscreen in the dash than the Audi A3's setup which is a bit dated.
  • Safety - the base Audi A3 comes with Audi Pre Sense® Front technology. It monitors the front of the vehicle and applies emergency braking if needed. The Mazda3 has way more technologies, like blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic, a driver alert system, lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, and smart brake support. To get more advanced features on the Audi A3 you need to go all the way up to the Prestige trim!
