Understanding MSRP
When you see “MSRP” next to a dollar amount, this stands for “Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price.” This refers to the recommended selling price set by automakers for a specific make or model, commonly known as the sticker price. The MSRP is based on a make, model, trim, and any extra features. It does not include certain taxes or fees.
Is MSRP the Same as the Final Sale Price?
Typically, a car will not sell for the exact recommended MSRP. Usually, a car’s final selling price is influenced by its current market value, which may be higher or lower than the MSRP.
Use Your Trade-In to Cut Costs
There are ways to reduce your final sale price. Your best bet is to use a trade-in vehicle. There’s a good chance that your older car has a lot of value, which is why you should find out how much it is worth. Another perk of trading in is that the sales tax will be calculated after your trade-in value is deducted.
